Drop Out Video Arts is an independently run non-profit which currently receives no outside funding. While we don’t like to dwell on monetary matters, supporting us can help us do bigger and better things! While running on a tight budget has its limitations, it also brings new possibilities, like exploring the principles of vintage technologies and sharing equipment with amazing people.
We are always looking for equipment including, but not limited to:
- VHS cameras, tapes and recorders
- Video/TV mixing and studio equipment, even that which may require minor repair
- Operational cameras of all kinds
- Audio equipment including headphones, recordable compact cassettes, vintage recording equipment etc.
- Lights!
- A/V cords and adapters in working order
- 1980s and 90s televisions
- Still and video projection equipment

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY:
As a registered arts society Drop Out Video is offering volunteer and internship opportunities for young artists and students interested in gallery operations, event planning, marketing and promotional action; where possible DOVA will endorse accreditation for school assignment or co-op.
Drop Out Video Arts is based out of the artspace Lions Den in Chinatown, a venue known for its range of arts activities. Drop Out Video Arts engages the broader public by expanding video programming into local venues and that build upon higher levels of inclusivity and collaborative art processes.
Ideal candidates will commit several hours of block time on a bi-monthly basis towards the support and advancement of these objectives.
Responsibilities and learning opportunities will include but are not limited to : organization concepts, maintenance within the gallery, networking discussion and communication methods, audio/visual setups, video camera techniques, site specific installation & construction.
